Essential Duties

  • Acts as primary contact with purchasing and procurement process
  • Reviews and processes a variety of business, financial, and operations requests such as preparing journal entries; inventory tracking; balancing and reconciling state, local, or foundation accounts and payroll
  • Maintains and prepares account and financial administrative reports using spreadsheet, database, PowerPoint, and other software as appropriate based on targeted audience and purpose
  • Analyzes and interprets financial data for decision making and planning
  • Assists in the preparation of operational and special budget worksheets
  • Assists in the annual and quarterly budget process
  • Identifies areas of concern and recommends appropriate corrective measures
  • Participates in internal and external audits
  • Responds to requests for supporting files, documents, and other associated media from internal and/or external audit staff
  • May lead lower level professional accountants and other staff in performing duties
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience; OR, six (6) years professional accounting experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a degree in Accounting from an AACSB accredited institution preferred
  • Work experience at ASU or in higher education preferred
  • Experience using: MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel and Access); Data Warehouse; FMS on-line accounting system
  • Experience preparing detailed financial reports and statements
  • Experience inpreparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, performing account analysis and review
  • Experience working with GAAP and university policies
  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Working Environment

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
  • Use office equipment including adesktop computer.
  • Lift and pushobjects of varying weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
  • May include exposure to external environment/climate conditions including walking on uneven surfaces, climbing and high temperatures.
