The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating, developing, and reviewing technical drawings and models for automated assembly and test equipment. The perfect candidate will work directly with Project Managers and Clients. Projects will range from lean equipment to large scale integrated systems.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering or equivalentA minimum of 10 years of mechanical design experienceExpert in SolidWorks 3D and associated ToolboxesAbility to quickly grasp the functionality of complex assembly, test, and processing equipmentAbility to develop provide functional diagrams of the machine’s operationFamiliar with the design principles behind machined parts, precision tooling, weldments, sheet metal fabricationsWorking knowledge of common machine shop techniquesSchedule oriented; able to make and achieve commitments
Desirable Additional Qualifications:Past experience working as a machinist a plus; knowledge of manufacturing software a plusExperience working within a PDM or EDM environment a plusExperience working on an Agile or Scrum project team a plusEngineering supervisory or management experience a plus
Essential Functions:Create and support assembly-level and mechanical component 3D models for automation solutionsDevelop, review, and manage technical drawings with a keen understanding of manufacturabilitySpecify, analyze, and design-in commercially available automation components such as robotics, laser systems, pneumatic automation, vision equipment, material handling, sensors, etc.Work collaboratively with an engineering project team to meet client requirements and maximize client business valueProvides effective mentoring to support staff including formatters and engineering assistantsAssist machinists, toolmakers, fabricators, machine builder, integrators and expeditors in production processes, debug, integration and commissioning* The salary listed in the header is an estimate based on salary data for similar jobs in the same area.
